Alex, check for a possible burnt out fuse. I know this seams silly, but I had a burnt out fuse for the horn, on my Yamaha Virago. The result was that the engine was enabled to start in any gear with the clutch engaged. So by not having the horn circuit I was able to bypass the safety cut out. Now, I know how to push start (in gear) my cycle, by removing the horn circuit fuse!
